AV&R is a Quebec engineering company specializing in robotics that is recognized worldwide and that works in the fields of aerospace, energy and orthopedics.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will have to develop robotic solutions for specific machining needs.

On a daily basis, you will be asked to:

  1. Understand customer needs
  2. Identify existing tools and those to be developed to meet customer needs
  3. Implement and configure existing tools
  4. Innovate by developing tools for robotic finishing solutions
  5. Test and industrialize newly developed processes
  6. Document your work and technical results

In addition, you will have to apply and promote the project processes, R&D and quality system. To achieve this, you will need to work with other project team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN DUTIES

  • Participate in the development of robotic machining processes in a SCRUM environment
  • Choose and configure existing equipment – robots, motors, abrasives, sensors, operating sequences – to develop robotic finishing processes
  • Participate in the development of new equipment – robots, motors, abrasives, sensors, operating sequences – to carry out robotic finishing processes
  • Participate in the validation of the concepts and layouts of elements in systems using simulation software (i.e. HandlingPro software)
  • Validate and enhance new processes and tools by implementing them with customers
  • Give training
  • Participate in the drafting of study plans and reports
  • Perform any other related tasks

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Studies in mechanical engineering, automated manufacturing or relevant field
  • Studies in machining or industrial robotics
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Comfortable working in a development environment; many unknowns and uncertainties, frequent trial and error, failures are part of the process
  • Skills in analysis and resolution of complex problems
  • Systematic approach
  • Basic knowledge of mechanics/electrical/programming (ex. bench test setup)
  • Enthusiasm and autonomy
  • Fluent in French/English, spoken/written
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Available for travel abroad (up to 30%)

OTHER ASSETS/SKILLS

  • Experience in machining
  • Experience in the field of robotics
  • Knowledge of FANUC Robotics industrial robots
  • Knowledge of abrasives (brushes, discs, etc.) and their parameters of use
  • Experience and/or knowledge of parts finishing (i.e. Benching)
