British government is investing massively in manufacturing technologies of the future. AV&R is proud to be part of the plan by becoming member of the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC). In partnership with Boeing, they are a world-class center that specializes in carrying out world-leading research into advanced machining, manufacturing and materials for aerospace and other high-value manufacturing sectors.
AV&R’s collaboration with the AMRC begins with the deployment of a first automated surface visual inspection system in their facility. This is the most recent technology developed by AV&R’s R&D team for the detection of surface defects. Currently, the system can assist the inspector by automating the surface inspection operation. In the long run, the objective is to reduce at the minimum the human intervention in this critical operation.
